TSOP is the standard IR remote control receiver series, supporting all major transmission codes. IR receiver or TSOP receiver senses IR pulses and converts them into electrical signals. Each TSOP or IR receiver operates at a specific frequency. Means it detects IR switching ON or OFF at a frequency. The output of IR receiver is active low. At the time when there is no IR, its output remains HIGH.  It has three pins, Ground, Vs (power), and OUTPUT pin.

This is a versatile device sensor, which receives the infrared pulses from the transmitter and will direct according to the function of the device. The black case will prevent the sunlight effect and lights on the photodiode present in the TSOP.

TSOP 38238 IR sensor is perfect for receiving commands from a Television remote control. TSOP38238 operates at a frequency of 38 kHz. Internal circuit of TSOP sensor consists of a photo diode, pre amplifier and band pass filter. Photo diode detects the IR rays and amplified signal is passed through the band pass filter. Carrier frequency of the data signal should be close to center frequency of the band pass filter (e.g. 38 kHz).
