Flex Sensor is used to detect bends in one direction.  Flex sensors are available in 2.2, 4.5 inches. For best outcomes, securely support the base and bottom portion and only let the actual flex sensor to bend. While using the flex sensor, make sure that the flex sensor should not bend beyond the usable range.

Sensor is coated with a conductive polymer ink. Ink has a resistance about 25k Ohms when the sensor is straight. If we fix one end of the sensor and apply force on other side, the sensor will bent away from the initial condition. The conductive particles get separated due to the applied force, so the resistance will increase. According to the bend radius the resistance of the sensor varies from 45 K ohm to 125 K ohm. We can measure the bent of the sensor using the resistance variation.
